“In war, there are no victors; only the dead and the wounded”
Worked over an A1 sized copy of the famous Eddie Adam photo, printed on canvas, with acrylics using a pointillist technique and an impressionist color scheme.
lavanja asked: Hiya, your other blog wouldn't let me write to you, so I thought I'd say thank you for the follow on here :) I love your love for Zooey Deschanel btw!
Ohh, why doesn’t it? Gah, I’ll never get tumblr! I can’t even follow people on that tumblr! But thanks a lot :) I love your work! Zoey Deschanel fans are always quite awesome so I think I can safely conclude that you are awesome (Y)

Experimenting with the Art Nouveau style, specifically Alfons Mucha’s works, of framing portraits with a halo mostly made out of flowers.
Pencil and watercolours
It should not be forgotten that art is not a science where the latest ‘correct’ theory declares the old to be false and erases it.
Fauvists are awesome!
Colours have always been area of fascination for me. I never liked following a predicted palette because I find that boring and monotonous. Anyone can just paint a picture, but its the colours, mediums and styles that you choose to represent it in that makes the picture unique and defines your style.
Art for me is something that is supposed to take you to different cliche-filled world with happiness and peace and UNICORNS and i try to portray that in my work with bright, unrealistic colours. Now I am not talking fluorescent bright obviously, because that would just be silly. But just choosing a brighter hue, simultaneous contrasts, these things makes painting a picture a lot more interesting for me! Now enters “fauvism”- a short lived movement where artists worked with “faux” or false colours. The most famous of these artists and its leaders are Andre Derain and Henry Matisse!

This movement however wasn’t very popular and was short lived because oh fauvism was going against the rules of painting and no one likes people who don’t obey rules of course! However, I believe it is about time fauvists come back and I for one am definitely hoping to be inspired by the fauvists in my future work as well. I think in a world where butchers can become designers, and big bird from sesame street is considered a fashion icon, fauvism would definitely fit in -if not be considered normal!
”Anybody heading in my direction
Away from the city
Anybody wanna change the way they feel
step inside”
Completely different to my usual pieces, but perspective had to be studied and I actually ended up really enjoying it!
Acrylics, indian ink, enamel paint on canvas.
PS: The photo is absolutely horrible, but oh well. Maybe I’ll try to get a better picture later!
“Captain Planet, he’s our hero,
Gonna take pollution down to zero,
He’s our powers magnified,
And he’s fighting on the planet side”
A painting I did of Captain Planet for a friend of mine who loves pizzas and captain Planet. “The Pizza is yours!” is a play of Captain Planet’s slogan “The Power is yours!”

So much for musings!
I have come to the realization that for a blog named musingsoftheartist, I don’t do much musings. So I figured, I better change that before someone calls me out on that!
Lately, I have come across a lot of interesting Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects in tumblr. Things like bags, accessories, forts etc and even though I was never a huge fan of crafts before, I am really compelled to try these. Right on cue, I then saw this stall yesterday at the British Ladies Society Spring Gala where a lady called Nerissa sold these amazing bracelets and posters and cards. All of which she made by herself! I was quite dumbstruck, at the ingenuity of it all because these are all creative things that I could just as easily make and she was selling it for like 7-14 kd each. And people were buying it! Me being the Indian I was though, took a good look at how she did it and then came back home to try it myself instead of buying it. I was then looking through her blog to see what all materials she used when I came across where she learnt it all from, an online tutorial called “she art” by Cristy Tomlinson, who is a mixed media artist and I have to say I was very very impressed. Her art is very whimsical and so feminine and her color palette is so…fresh? I can never seem to go past the traditional palettes of pinks and blues or reds and oranges or blues or greens but her colour palettes fuses all sorts of colours and makes it look amazing!
This is so definitely on the list for things I want to learn in the summer, along with learning how to tie-dye and silk painting and I highly recommend it to any DIY enthusiasts out there as well!
