So much for musings!
I have come to the realization that for a blog named musingsoftheartist, I don’t do much musings. So I figured, I better change that before someone calls me out on that!
Lately, I have come across a lot of interesting Do-It-Yourself (DIY) projects in tumblr. Things like bags, accessories, forts etc and even though I was never a huge fan of crafts before, I am really compelled to try these. Right on cue, I then saw this stall yesterday at the British Ladies Society Spring Gala where a lady called Nerissa sold these amazing bracelets and posters and cards. All of which she made by herself! I was quite dumbstruck, at the ingenuity of it all because these are all creative things that I could just as easily make and she was selling it for like 7-14 kd each. And people were buying it! Me being the Indian I was though, took a good look at how she did it and then came back home to try it myself instead of buying it. I was then looking through her blog to see what all materials she used when I came across where she learnt it all from, an online tutorial called “she art” by Cristy Tomlinson, who is a mixed media artist and I have to say I was very very impressed. Her art is very whimsical and so feminine and her color palette is so…fresh? I can never seem to go past the traditional palettes of pinks and blues or reds and oranges or blues or greens but her colour palettes fuses all sorts of colours and makes it look amazing!
This is so definitely on the list for things I want to learn in the summer, along with learning how to tie-dye and silk painting and I highly recommend it to any DIY enthusiasts out there as well!
